Well some of you may know I am a WWII Reenactor (Dog Company, 5th Ranger Battalion) and Every year the Ranger group puts on D-Day in Conneaut Ohio. This was my first event and one I will not forget. They brought 3 original Higgins boats (only 2 worked so the 3rd became a display piece.) for us to load up and disembark on (and they ******* took on water like it was nobodies business...I guess when that's what happens when wood boats get 70 years old and have no seals replaced!). I am always in color party at events so I was blessed with raising the actual flag that 5 Star General Omar Bradley flew outside of his head quarters (...If you don't know who he is - google it you lazy ******* ;P). Here are some pictures with me in them...
It was beyond awesome to come into the LZ with 2 P-51's flying above you in an original Higgins Boat. Now if I can only get the Jizz out of my wool pants ;P

Oh and if you live on the eastern Sea Board (Indiana, West Virginia, Ohio, ect...) and want to get involved in WWII reenacting here is my groups website. 18 and over is a must. There are 2 events we are for sure attending. Rockford Illinois in September 24-25th which is city battles and open fields with what is rumored to be us riding on some Shermans (jizzed again lol) and some Kraut Armor and Fort Indian Town Gap (FIG for short) in January which is a Battle of the Bulge reenactment (lasts a week for reenactors, open one day to the public. We have private tacticals and Such against Germans and German Armour like the STUG)

http://5thrib.com/ - my group

I posted this up in the Pics thread but after M1 suggested I make a new thread I decided why not :)
Controversial ‘Duke Nukem Forever’ Will Finally Be Released

By Kamau High

3DRealms
“Duke Nukem Forever,” a video game synonymous with never being released, is finally being released.
The first person shooter about a space marine with a penchant for off-color humor who battles aliens with increasingly destructive weapons, was to be the fourth installment in a series of games that garnered critical praise and generated controversy for its depiction of women. After 10 years in development, 3D Realms, the studio behind the game, announced it was shutting down in 2009.
The game is being finished by Gearbox Software and will be published by Take-Two Interactive, publisher of the “Grand Theft Auto” series. The game is being shown to consumers and the press for the first time at a video game convention today. Gearbox hopes to release the game next year.
Announced in 1997, “Duke Nukem Forever” went through numerous changes as developer 3D Realms tried to keep pace with new technology its competitors were introducing into their games. As Scott Miller, then owner and CEO of 3D Realms, puts it: “We were probably too much of a perfectionist about the game. When some other game had some great feature come out we wanted to match it.” In addition, the studio managed to produce a slate of other games, like 2006’s “Prey.” “We’d been distracted on other games like ‘Prey.’ It was a combination of those things. We were trying to build a game that was too great,” he says.

For those don't remember because of being to new to the tournament or progressing age, Operation Saber was a remake I did back in FH1 of the original EA BF1942 map Bocage. Well, I really liked how that map played. So, I have been remaking it for FH2 and, hopefully, continued to improve upon it.

I'm setting this map as part of Operation Dragoon; the invasion of Southern France that is often forgotten. My grandfather took part in Op Dragoon as an artillery battery commander in the 42nd Rainbow Division. So, I rather like the idea of making some maps from those battles. My plan for Woodrun, should I get to it, is to radically change it to represent the 887th Airborne Engineer Aviation Company that landed inland before the amphibious assaults on the southern coast. Yes, that was their unit in all of it's wordy glory. The only glider trained combat engineering unit that actually carried out the mission they were trained for.

The map is being designed to take full advantage of rally points and will either be a 3 flag map OR a 4 to 5 flag map with the city area having 2 or 3 flags inside of it of lesser value. The artillery base is going to have to be a non-spawn flag I think; otherwise it will be nearly impossible to dig anyone out of it. It has a lot of bunkers and trenches lining the hill and will require advanced infantry skills and combined arms to assault. Unless the defenders are just sitting in a bunker room playing "toss the bandage" with each other, this is no drive in fast and dump out to gray flag.

You can't see it on the minimap, yet, but there is a ford to cross the river north of the southern "island" leading up towards the artillery base. I still have more work to do, add some more bridges, extend the rail lines, flesh out a few areas and build in the mains. Then it's time to texture and light map. Shooting to be ready for the scrims.

Thanks to Squarebasher for converting the terrain over to BF2 for me.
